Hey guys and welcome back to a new blog post. This one is very juicy and I promise, you will not want to miss it! This is an honest review of the hyped up Function Of Beauty hair care range. The range was not gifted, I purchased the products myself and I will tell you my real thoughts!

I am sure that many of you guys have heard of Function Of Beauty, for those of you who haven’t I will explain what it is. Function Of Beauty is a company that offers personalized hair and more recently skincare.
The products are ‘apparently’ backed by science and sustainable in recycled plastic bottles and posted in cardboard boxes. The products come with fun stickers to decorate and further personalize your products.
You have the choice of a lid or pump dispenser for your products. Personally I prefer the pump although mine came a little bit faulty as the pump was a little loose. It still works okay though luckily and makes for easy and convenient use. Mine must of got damaged in transit I suspect.
Many well-known influencers (some I’m sure you follow) have been gifted these items and promoted them. All the influencers I’ve seen have said only positive things about their personalized products. I however brought these items with my own money and wanted to give you an unbiased opinion.
Function Of Beauty rely heavily on influencers to market their products and user generated content to share and promote their items. I am studying a marketing masters so excuse some marketing points of view…

To receive the perfect haircare range for your personal needs you fill in a short five questions quiz. For my range I chose: Peach scented, pink-colored shampoo, and conditioner for wavy and fine hair. I wanted the range to target color protection, deep conditioning, fix split ends, anti-frizz, and help lengthen my hair. I chose the smallest size which is 8 oz. I

I did manage to get 20% off via an advert (non-affiliated) which bought the total to £28 including shipping. Twenty eight pounds for a shampoo and conditioner that has roughly 5 months use…
To start, the price is seriously overpriced. I am more than happy with my Garnier, ultimate blends shampoo and conditioner which costs £4 each. That is in my opinion a minimum, average cost for hair care.
The shampoo and conditioner smell so delicious, a juicy peach scent as I chose, there are other options available. Scents such as; Peach, Rose, Pear & Apple, Eucalyptus, Lavander, or fragrance-free.
The packaging is fine, it’s recycled plastic! My pumps were a bit loose and faulty on the top but they still worked. The bottles do look super cute with stickers I must admit. They look very aesthetic and it was quite fun placing them on my bottles.

On first use, my thoughts were that It smells good, doesn’t lather up much. My hair felt very dry after using the shampoo and then I put the conditioner on, it felt a bit better but still slightly dry.
I’ve now been using my ‘personalized‘ range for three weeks. My hair definitely feels dry after use, it needs coconut oil before blow-drying. The conditioner is not as deep conditioning as I would have liked, my split ends do not feel much better, my color is brighter, however.
Before My split ends… EEK! Wet After ~ Dry
Overall, my thoughts are that Function Of Beauty is overpriced and over-marketed. I’m sure influencers did genuinely enjoy their products but for me I really don’t like them.
My hair has never felt worse using these products. I have contacted Function Of Beauty and they’ve offered me a new formulation so I will keep you updated on that.
My products also took over a month to come after ordering them. I received several emails saying that they had received many orders and were slightly behind. I didn’t get an email to confirm delivery and so contacted them again (second time asking where my products were) and I was told it had been dispatched.. apparently. Almost two months to arrive…
My advice? Don’t waste your money, buy Garnier hair or skin products. Function Of Beauty offer over-marketed, aesthetically appealing packaging with terrible formulations inside. Is it really backed by science? Do influencers really like their products? Is it really custom?
What’s your opinion on Funtion Of Beauty? Let me know in the comments…
Thanks for the honest review. I could see that your hair looks lighter after using it.
Thank you! It was lighter but sadly so drying, I would not recommend this range to anyone …♡
