Being the beauty obsessive that I am, whenever I go to a new country I love taking a peek at the different skincare and makeup bits on offer. Different countries have different products and styles that I love experimenting with and testing out. In a matter of weeks, I’ll be in New York browsing the American drug stores for their latest fall makeup and skincare launches. How exciting!
For now, though I’m on a little Spanish island called Menorca. I can’t believe that I’ve never purchased any Spanish makeup or skincare items… before now that is!
My Mum actually came across this treasure trove shop in Mahon. They sell a range of beauty items which include anything from Perfume to makeup, haircare to skincare. They sell brands such as YSL, Chanel, Maybelline and Bourjois. I was interested in the Spanish brands that I had never heard of though of course.
I am trying to save my money for New York as I know that I will be buying a bit of makeup, skincare, haircare and of course Bath and Body Works candles there. Saying this I couldn’t help but pick up a few bits here in Spain to try!
Enough ramblings… here is my Spanish beauty haul!
I am going to try my best to link all of the products mentioned in this blog post. To shop products simply click on the image as it will take you to the website of the product.
First up is some skincare that my Mum kindly brought for me as a gift. Since finishing university my skin has been terrible! I’ve had acne style spots and breakouts all over my face. I’m not sure whether it was due to stress, lack of sleep or an allergic reaction.
I use my skincare religiously in the evenings and I haven’t tried any new products recently so I suspect stress. The one product I swear by when my skin goes downhill is La Roche Posay’s Serozinc spray which claims to calm acne skin down. I mist my face every day and night but due to having only hand luggage (FOR SIX WEEKS!) I couldn’t pack my holy grail spray with me.
The sun and sea has massively helped my skin but my Mum kindly got me a few products to help the process along. These are all natural and organic products with no preservatives or chemical ingredients. They are also unscented and personally, I’m not a fan of the unscented scent.
The skincare products themselves are good. My skin drinks up the moisturizer very fast and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth and soft for a good few hours. The cleanser foams up and again leaves my skin feeling soft. The makeup remover removes my makeup well enough but it is nowhere near as good as my trust Bioderma which removes makeup in one swoop of a cotton pad. This makeup remover needs a good few scrubs to remove all makeup. I definitely like to use the cleanser after this as my skin doesn’t feel clean enough and makeup free.
Next up is makeup! Can I – a beauty obsessor go anywhere without buying makeup? The answer is a solid no! I love testing out new makeup from around the globe. Travelling isn’t all about the sunshine, beaches, scuba diving and sights you know…
First I am going to talk about this stunning pink eyeshadow pallet that I picked up. I was so torn between this pink one and an autumnal brown and golden palette that was also available but I picked up this pink one in the end. I now wish I had got both because they were so affordable…
First of all the packaging is so cute. On the lid of the pallet is different cartoon style images of birds tweeting, sending love to each other and cuddling. So adorable although maybe a bit childish for me but nonetheless the shadows looked gorgeous. I swatched them in store and although the texture was a little chalkier than I like ~ they did swatch nicely. Very well pigmented and stayed on well.
See below some swatches from the pallet
As you can see, some colors are more pigmented than others. The top shades are beautifully shimmery and pigmented whereas the bottom shades are slightly less pigmented and a lot more chalky I would say. This pallet only cost me £3 though so for the price I would say the quality is as you expect. Okay but definitely use a primer to keep the eyeshadow on all day. It is buildable and I am very happy overall with the shadows considering the price.
Next up is a gorgeous tinted lip balm.
If I’m totally honest I gave into the stunning pink metallic packaging but saying this, the lip balm instead looked beautifully glossy with tiny specks of glitter. Princess vibes ~ I’m there!
My third purchase was a jelly sponge. I remember seeing this hyped all over Instagram with bloggers trying it. I’m a bit late to the bandwagon as always but I wanted to try it out and this sponge was only £2! Of course, I got a pink one because let’s be honest ~ clear is kind of boring…
Finally, I’ve heard a lot about highlighting drops but I’ve never tried them. I was too scared of ending up with my face looking like a glowstick but these highlighting drops are just gorgeous. They may look white in the bottle but once you use the pippet and drop the highlighter onto your hand it turns pink!
I hope you guys enjoyed seeing what I purchased whilst in Spain. Soon it will be a New York beauty haul and I can’t wait!
See you guys soon
