Sanctuary ‘Being’ Range Review

Hi Guys,

Recently I popped into boots to pick up some new shower gel and I spotted a new range from Sanctuary Spa which looked and smelt delicious in store so I just had to pick it up to try out. I really loved the products that I bought so I decided to review them and let you guys know what I thought.

The products that I brought happen to be a new range from Sanctuary Spa called ‘Being‘. The range came out in June this year.

The message behind the new body range is that women are empowering and need to embrace their beauty and self-rights. The new products are supposed to give you that well-needed kick of confidence in order to make you stand tall and be bold.

Being by Sanctuary comes with 5 punchy fragrance sets; Cloudberry and Lychee Blossom, Salted Caramel and Macadamia, Hibiscus and Coconut Water, Chilli Mango and Tonca Bean, Water Lotus and Pomelo.

The range is very affordable and a little more affordable than Sanctuary’s normal body range. Find the products and prices HERE

I picked up the Water Lotus and Pomelo shower gel and body scrub – these to me smell deliciously fresh with hints of grapefruit and tropical vibes.

The shower gel smells strong enough without being overpowering – I can smell the scent from the shower gel alone on me hours after showering. The scent is delicious and fresh. it reminds me of tropical holidays. For the affordable £6 price of this shower gel, I get a very luxurious feeling whenever I use this.

When it comes to body scrubs I’m very critical as I don’t want something that is too harsh or not exfoliating enough. After holiday my skin always needs a good scrub as the sun dries out your skin. This scrub is gentle enough whilst still getting rid of all my dry dead skin from holiday. This scrub is also affordable at £9 a tub.

Overall I would highly recommend that you try out this range if you’re looking for a new tropical range for your shower. I will definitely be repurchasing more scents and a moisturiser from this range soon.

Have you tried anything from this range? Please let me know your thoughts in the comments below?!

See you guys soon,

Body Shop’s new face mask review

Hi Guys,

Recently the Body Shop were kind enough to send me a sample of three of their new face masks. I was sent the; Ginseng & rice polish mask, British rose plumping mask, Himalayan charcoal purifying mask.

I thought that I would give you a little treat of an extra post this month and review these luxurious masks!

Each mask claims to do something slightly different to you skin;

Ginseng & rice polish mask

“Give your skin a new lease of life with our Chinese Ginseng and Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask. Inspired by Chinese traditions, we have blended ginseng extract, rice extract and sesame seed oil into our 100% vegetarian creamy exfoliating mask, that has been formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil. Use two to three times a week to reveal brighter-looking, even and supple feeling skin.” – Taken from The Body Shop website

British rose plumping mask

“Grow your glow with our British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask. Inspired by the European bathing rituals, our 100% vegan refreshing gel face mask is infused with real rose petals, rose essence, rosehip oil and organic Community Trade aloe vera. And what’s more, it’s formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil. Reveal skin that’s replenished with moisture and visibly smooth with a youthful dewy appearance. Perfect used with our Facial Mask Brush, it makes for the most beautiful facial at home experience.” – Taken from The Body Shop website

Himalayan charcoal purifying mask

“Refine and revive your skin with our Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask. Inspired by Ayurvedic traditions, this 100% vegan tingling clay mask is infused with bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves and organic tea tree oil. And it’s been formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil. This invigorating charcoal face mask draws out impurities and refines the appearance of pores for healthy-looking skin with a glow that shows. Complete your facial at home expert by applying this purifying blend with our Facial Mask Brush” – Taken from The Body Shop website

My Reviews

I tried the multi-tasking method so that I could try out all three face masks at once.

I put the Clay mask on my forehead and down my nose to get rid of pores and blackheads followed by the rice mask on my chin and around my mouth to smooth and get rid of pores and then the British Rose mask on my cheeks to plump them.

I love all of the masks because they each promise something different and deliver. The clay mask definitely detoxed my forehead and nose of blackhead, the rose mask plumped my cheeks and the rice mask clarified and cleared up my chin.

The instructions were to apply all masks and wait 15 minutes for them to try, as you can see from the gif above the mask dried very quickly and the clay mask turned a pale green colour as it dried.

My skin is very sensitive so I was very cautious with these masks but they’re ever so gentle whilst still doing a brilliant job at really clearing out and plumping your skin.

These masks are all vegetarian, not tested on animals and affordable at £16

I really hope that you enjoyed this post.

What are your favourite masks from the body shop? I’m keen to try some more Body Shop face masks!

See you soon,

Summer skincare essentials that you need

Hi Guys,

With summer finally coming to England it’s so important to make sure that you’re looking after your skin and wearing SPF so I thought that I would share my favourite skincare essentials for summer. These are all affordable and easily accessible products that are perfect for protecting your skin from the sun’s harsh rays and the summer chemicals that you may encounter such as chlorine and salt water.

Before I apply anything to my skin I make sure it’s clean.

In order to cleanse and clean my skin, I use Garnier’s Micellar cleansing gel. This is a gel-like texture that you rub into your skin in order to melt away any makeup and dirt from your skin. I love how satisfying this is to use, you can see all of the dirt and old makeup come off on the cotton pad! So gross but so satisfying.

You can get this product from Boots or Superdrug at an affordable price of £2.66 from boots and £3.99 from Superdrug.

Secondly, I apply a brightening serum to keep my face fresh and plump ready for the summer.

I am currently using Origins skin renewal serum. This serum claims to brighten, plump and de-stress your skin which is both perfect for summer and a student. I love this product for all year around especially for summer to keep my skin bright and glowing.

You can buy this serum from John Lewis for £32.50 and I promise you it’s worth every penny – after just one week I notice the effects of how bright and plump my skin looked.

Thirdly, I will apply a brightening moisturiser which is again perfect for summer.

Currently, I am using Sanctuary’s Illuminating moisturiser which has SPF 15 too so this is a must have for summer. Looking after you skin in the sunlight is so important to save your skin from harsh chemicals and ageing.

This product claims to brighten your skin in order to keep it young and plump. I agree that this product does exactly that without being tacky and sinking in fast.

You can buy this moisturiser from Boots for £14.50.

Fourthly I will apply an eye cream to keep dark circles at bay to again achieve that bright and plump look for the summer time that I am going for.

I am currently using Body Shop’s brightening eye cream. This eye cream claims to keep dark circles at bay. The eye cream works by using red algae extract which is harvested from the North Atlantic to keep your under eyes bright and illuminated. The eye cream also uses vitamin C, minerals and nutrients to benefit your under eye bags.

You can get this from The Body Shop for £20.00 – a little goes a long way with this product making it cost effective!

Finally, I will use a moisturising facial spray to lock in my skincare.

I may be a bit late to the bandwagon with this but recently I have been using Kiehl’s cactus flow spray. This spray smells amazingly fresh and spa like. It’s a light spray that claims to give your skin an instant boost whilst keeping your skin smooth and jewey.

This spray is quite pricey at £28 but the spray lasts a long time as a little goes a long way so I’m more than happy to invest in this spray to keep my skin bright for summer.

I’ve been using it a tonne and it’s hardly gone down at all so I believe that I will have this spray for quite a while making it very affordable for what you get.

I really hope that you guys enjoyed this blog post.

What are your summer skincare essentials? I would love to know in the comments below!

My holiday essentials

Hi Guys,

As you read this I’m officially in Menorca, Spain sunning myself and scuba diving and I thought that I would share with you what my holiday essentials are!

These are products and items that MUST come on holiday with me that I use every day to keep myself safe from the sun whilst still being glamorously tanned and glowing.

  1. A Beach hat – beach hats are essential to keep the sun off your face whilst looking glamorous and totally instagramable!
  2. Protection Spray For Your Hair – Having coloured hair I know how important it is to protect your hair from the sun, the pool and the sea so I use this Charles Worthington leave in sun protection spray to help keep my hair in a good condition whilst on holiday or out in the sun!
  3. A Pool Float – This is a must to be the coolest gal in the pool on holiday. I love all of the fun pool floats that I’m seeing on Instagram right now! This flamingo one was from Primark for £10! Keep your eyes peeled on my Instagram to see me posing on my flamingo pool float!
  4. A Glowing Body Oil – I love this body oil from The Body Shop because it’s non-greasy and affordable with amazing effects! I love using shimmering body oil’s on holiday because it brings out your gorgeous tan even more.
  5. A Tinted Moisturiser – if you are or aren’t going away this year then Garnier’s summer body moisturiser is great for you! It adds a slow build up tint of tan to your body whilst being a thick and luxurious moisturiser that sinks in quick. I love this product enough to call it a holy grail product of mine – I simply can’t live without it in the summer time to keep my tan topped up!
  6. A Moisturising Face Mist – No one likes being hot, sweaty and flustered on holiday so I always like to carry around a face mist to soothe my hot and sweaty face. Right now I’m loving Garnier’s ‘moisture bomb’ face mist. It’s a light spray with a fruity scent that is under 100ml meaning you can take it on holiday and in your beach bag without it taking up too much room either!
  7. A SPF Lip Balm – When going out in the sun a lot of people forget that your lips can burn too so I always make sure to carry around an SPF lip balm in order to keep my lips soft and plump in case of any summer romances… 😉 I love this one by Kiehl’s because it is a rich balm with SPF 15!
  8. Hands are important too – Next, I like to use a hand cream to again keep my hands nice and soft. Not included in the pictures above but I like to always keep a hand sanitizer and cream in my bag as the beach can be a dirty and drying place for your skin so it’s important to cleanse and moisturise your hands regularly.
  9. SPF SPF SPF – My next essential is a face SPF. SPF is so important as it protects your skin from ageing and the possibility of skin cancer. I make sure to always apply my SPF regularly and I love this one from Clinique – It’s SPF 4o, non-greasy and lightweight!
  10. Last but no least – Body SPF, I like this one from Hawaiin Tropic – It’s a spray oil making it easy with an added bonus of giving your skin a beautiful glowing sheen.

A few last tips to last you through summer;

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Fruit is better than ice cream – You won’t bloat and you WILL keep your summer body
  • Take lots of Instagrams no matter where you are as long as the sun in shining
  • Follow the #LaurenVacays to keep up to date with my adventures this summer!

Sephora Haul

Sephora is one of my all time favourite beauty shops although I think I like it more knowing that it’s something special and restricted that isn’t available in the UK.

Recently I went to Portugal as you would have seen if you follow my social media and luckily for me they had a Sephora a 2 minute walk away from our air B ‘n’ B so as you can imagine I brought quite a few things…

What did I buy;

Masks; – I’ve always wanted to try them as I’ve heard some great things about Sephora face masks. I brought the Avocado mask, Lotus mask, Green Tea mask and the Algae Mask. I also purchased the lip mask and a nose pore strip. I am yet to try any of these products out yet so I can’t provide a review but I’m so excited to try them!

Too Faced ‘Better Than Sex’ Mascara; –  I’ve heard some great things about this mascara and I know I’m a little late to the bandwagon but I’ve had too many mascaras to justify buying a new one but before my trip to Portugal I used up a mascara so I decided I could justify buying a new one. I love this mascara and I can see why everyone got so excited over this face mascara. It gives your lashes so much volume and length without being clumpy.

Sephora Eyelash Curlers; – The day before we arrived in Lisbon my eyelash curlers that I’ve had for many years from Primark sadly broke which was actually perfect timing so I brought some eyelash curlers from Sephora and of course I got the bright pink ones. These do a good job of curled your eyelashes whilst being very gentle.

Mini’s aisle EG the most dangerous section of Sephora; – I always fall into the trap of the mini’s aisle and end up buying smaller versions of products I can’t justify spending on the full-size ones and/or holiday gifts to myself.

The first thing that I purchased from the mini’s aisle, I brought myself the multi-tasking brush. I decided that this would be good for foundation and powder on holiday and it’s a small brush so it saves room. The brush also comes with a plastic contain to save it from getting grubby – genius!

The next thing I brought from the mini isle was Sephora’s lotus sleeping mask as I have an 8-hour flight to Antigua in December so I thought that this mask would be perfect for the flight! I always make sure to look after my skincare on a long haul flight!

The final thing I brought from the dangerous mini aisle was a pack of ribbon hairbands.

I brought so many minis I also got a Sephora free liquids bag – Oops… 😉

What are your favourite bits from Sephora? Would do I need to buy next time I go?

See you next Sunday at 6 pm

“Just get on with it notepad – I love this notepad. I’m 100% a stationary nerd so I can’t wait to have this on my desk and use it to jot down my to-do lists!

“Seba Med cleansing bar”  – I am yet to try this but I can’t wait. It’s a facial soap which aims at getting rid of pimples, blackheads and skin impurities. Perfect for those pesky stress-related skin problems that can occur around exam time!

Space Masks Intersetlla Relaxion Eye Mask – I am yet to try this face mask but I can’t wait to try it! The idea of a relaxing eye mask sounds get to me as recently I haven’t been sleeping as well as I would like to so I’m excited to try these masks out!

I thought I would talk you through my makeup storage, all of my storage is from Amazon apart from my makeup brush holder which is from Ikea and my light up mirror from ASDA.

February Empties

Hi Guys,

I’ve been saving up all of my empty products ready to show you what I’ve been using in the past months along with a short review.

Liz Earl ‘Cleanse and Polish’ – £14.00

The Liz Earl cleanse and polish cleanser is a cult beauty product amongst most women and especially bloggers. I may be generalising here but I have personally never met or heard of anyone who doesn’t like this product.

Simply squirt one of two pumps of the cleanser onto your hand then massage the cream into your skin. Follow that up by wiping off the cream with a muslin cloth soaked in warm water.

The cleanser literally melts all of your makeup off your face although I wouldn’t recommend this for waterproof mascara but any other makeup will melt away at ease with this cleanser. The cleanser itself is unscented and gentle so if you have sensitive skin or don’t like scented products then this cleanser is perfect for you and at £14.00 It’s so affordable for the quality and amount of product that you get!

Body Shop ‘Vitamin E’ Face Mist – £10.00

I’m personally not to fussed over facial mists. I rarely rebuy a mist and I’m constantly swapping around face mists in order to try out new products.

This face mist from the body shop was very nice. It smelt lovely and fresh/floral, the mist was moisturising enough, my skin felt brighter and more rejuvenated after using this. I would highly recommend it if you want a light moisturising and brightening mist.

Origins Original Skin Renewal Serum – £32.00

I’ve only recently within the past few months started to use serums due to my skin becoming very dry and dull for some unknown reason. I did a bit of online research in search of a product that brightens up your skin and moisturises it. I came across Origins skin renewal serum and read all the raving reviews then decided I must purchase this serum and try it out for myself.

The reviews really are correct. This serum is amazing – It smells so lovely and fresh and floral, it moisturises your skin and brightens your skin. After just one week of using this I notices how soft and bright my skin was starting to look and I’m now onto my second bottle!

Simply put this on before your moisturiser and eye cream and watch your skin slowly get more and more flawless everyday – I promise you that it’s worth the cost!

Nip + Fab “De-Stress’ shower gel – £8.99

Shower gels to me are a similar situation to face mists. I’m always trying something new and I rarely repurchase a shower gel as there are so many on the market that I’m always eager to try.

This shower gel smelt just like a spa with floral notes. It was a very gentle shower gel on my sensitive skin. I would recommend this if you want a soothing scent to use in the evening before bed – It definitely helped to relax me before going to seep.

First Aid Beauty ‘Facial Radiance’ Pads – 18.99

First aid beauty is a very well known skincare brand in America which is slowly trying to establish their name in the UK.

These radiance pads were nice and gently to use but personally, I would rather use a physical exfoliator and for half the cost of these pads, I can’t personally say that these made much of a difference for my radiance.

Soap and glory ‘Scrub Of Your Life’ Scrub – £7.00

Soap and glory are probably one of my favourite drugstore brands. You know what you’re going to get when you buy a soap and glory product and you know you won’t feel guilty buying their luxurious products because the cost is just so affordable.

This scrub was lovely to use. it smelt delicious and sugary and really worked to get rid of any dead skin or nasty toxins. I love this scrub, I am yet to repurchase it but I will!

Rimmel ‘Match Perfection’ foundation – £7.99

Rimmel is a very good drugstore brand for an affordable cost although I wouldn’t say that they’re my favourite makeup brand that there is in the drugstore.

I enjoyed using this foundation – the coverage was buildable, my skin looked flawless with it on and the shade was at the bottle says perfection. I will probably rebuy this one time but for now I’m trying out Chanel’s Vitalumier Aqua Foundation which my Mum kindly got me for Christmas – I’m so spoilt! Thanks mum 😉

Benefit ‘Ready, Set, Brow’ Gel – £18.00

I really loved this brow gel. Benefit are a great brand who produce top-notch products in slightly quirky packaging.

The brow gel kept my brows in place all day without leaving my brows feeling rock hard which some gels do – I hate the feeling of rock solid frozen like brows.

Borjour ‘Chocolate’ bronzer – £7.99

I didn’t actually finish this product completely – Instead, I am unfortunately throwing it away.

This product smells amazing and I’m normally 99% happy with Borjour products but the pigmentation of this bronzer disappointed me. No matter how hard I tried to build this bronzer up on my face I just couldn’t get the pigmentation that I wanted. Very disappoint!
