I’m sure we are all sick of our homes and surrounding areas after this pandemic. Whether you loved to travel constantly before or not, we are all in need of a change of scene and location switch up. I’m back with 5 budget friendly, UK holidays locations as well as a mini guide for them each. All of these locations include free activities and accommodation for under £100 a night.
I’m an unemployed (currently) student with a love for exploring new places. I’ve gotten pretty savvy with my money and travelling luxuriously for less. Expensive taste doesn’t always mean expensive costs…

1. Rye, East Sussex
I just love this town. Rye has a caste, Mermaid Street and Inn, cobblestone streets with quintessentially British houses, quaint book and coffee shops with stunning Camber Sands beach nearby. There’s quite a few affordable and unique Air B ‘N’ B stays or caravan and camping sites. Rye is no more than two hours from London by car or train in which departs from St Pancras station. It’s easy to get to and a lovely getaway for a long weekend or week!

2. The Cotswolds

The Cotswolds is hands down one of the most magical, #Cottagecore places that I have visited in the UK. The Cotswolds is huge with so many lovely things to do. It’s located just outside of Oxford and about two hours from London by car. You can also get there by train in just over three hours, the views are stunning and scenic!
I managed to convince my boyfriend to drive there on our way to Cornwall and it did not disappoint. We were only there for the day however I plan to go back soon for a long weekend. Beautiful yellow stone houses, countryside pubs and walks can be found in the Cotswolds. Again, if you’re a fan of anything quintessentially British then you would love The Cotswolds. It’s the perfect weekend getaway to relax and take some time offline.
When I visited I saw some incredible roman ruins, the quaint town of Bibury and fed some Trout.
If you’re looking for more recommendations then check out Josie’s Blog or YouTube. She has lived there for a year now and has such lovely taste. Soon, she will be hosting her very own rental cottage! Josie will be producing a number of blog posts with recommendations. There are also quite a few options on Air B ‘N’ B with a variety or price ranges. Also, you can check out some fun Cotswolds experiences on there!

3. Cornwall
I could produce an essay with recommendations for Cornwall. My Great Auntie used to own a holiday cottage in Bude so most summers I would travel down for family holidays. I’ve been visiting Cornwall since before I could walk. It’s a long 4/5 hours from London but so worth the trip. You can also travel down by train which takes around the same amount of time. Cornwall has some: breathtaking beaches, coastal hikes, Ariel’s castles, an open-air theatre, caves, witchy seaside towns, magical forests and more. I stayed in this exact Air B ‘N’ B and loved it! Cannot recommend it enough for location, luxury and price!

4. Southwold / Suffolk
Southwold is again not far from London – 2 hours by car and about the same by train. There are some lovely beaches, vineyards, towns to explore and Fish and Chips to be had. A must visit is the quaint village of Walberswick. It felt truly magical and sorry to say it again… quintessentially British. Cottages of dreams, cobbled streets, lovely residents and village shops. It’s nice just to have a mooch around for the day. Get the boat across the canal and walk back for lovely views of the marshland. Grab a coffee for the (45 minute-ish) scenic walk back.
– I actually visited here a few days before I picked up Indie – not that I knew at the time… my life was about to change for the best! Such a lovely surprise to return to.

5. Norfolk
I’m sure you’ve worked out by now that I love magical places… Norfolk is definitely magical. I have to recommend the exact, romantic Air B ‘N’ B that me and my boyfriend stayed in. It was very remote but located next to a hidden away river that we were brave enough to go for a swim in. The cottage reminded me of Snow Whites cottage in the woods with a log burning stove, small kitchen, ensuite and stunning gardens! It’s under £100!
Norfolk has everything from a magical forest, cider brewery, castle, vineyard, Harry Potter steam train, stunning beaches and lovely seaside towns. You can go crabbing HERE and you must get your Fish and Chips from HERE!
